John Mawhinney
Mr. Mawhinney was appointed to the Authority by Governor Napolitano in March of 2003, as a person knowledgeable in water resources management.
Mr. Mawhinney is a former member of the Arizona State Senate and was Senate Majority leader from 1991-1992. Most recently, Mr. Mawhinney served as co-chairman of the Governor’s Water Management Commission. He also served on the Arizona Groundwater Study Commission, the entity that developed the Arizona Groundwater Management Act.
Mr. Mawhinney served as a major in the U.S. Air Force before embarking on his lifetime career as a commercial pilot. A long-time Arizona resident, Mr. Mawhinney currently resides in Tucson.
